Traditional craft products

The geographical location of the wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj has allowed it to have a distinct cultural and social harmony and diversity, in particular in the activities of traditional crafts, which extends in the depth of its authentic history, because it includes a magnificent mosaic that varies according to the different geographical areas and the human composition of the people of the wilaya with its different cultures since antiquity, which has kept pace with modernity and development to preserve its cultural heritage.

1- Traditional clothing and embroidery:

Due to its location and the homogeneous mixture of its inhabitants, the Wilayat of Bordj Bou Arreridj is known for the traditional clothing which some of them share with neighboring regions by virtue of historical cohesion.

The BINWAR is known at the level of the wilaya as a dress that the woman wears during festivals and occasions. La -Quashabiya and Burnous for men, circumcision clothes for children, each of which carries the artistic touch of successive historical eras and reflects the creativity of artisans through these eras with a rhythm of modernity and development

The manufacture of sieves:

The region is known for the manufacture of sieves and its mobile artisans who roam the wilayas of the country to provide families with this important tool in the manufacture of their food products (couscous) and other types of traditional food . The name of the sieve varies depending on the type of iron net that is supplied (Sieve, Sakat, Sayar ..) which determine the size and quality of the product.

Antiques products:

the manufacture of ornamental articles and antiques does not go back to a specific date, but is rather linked to the creativity and imagination of craftsmen artists to make decorative tools and models of cultural and historical monuments that immortalize the history of the region and remain a witness to its civilization with multiple and simple materials, including copper, wood and stone, as well as recycling the materials used.

Wood carving:

with the help of simple tools, drawings and decorations are added on the wooden products, in particular: vegetable decorations and various geometric shapes in the greatest precision and beauty. This activity is characterized by the personal artistic creativity of the craftsman to produce wooden furniture and ornaments of high quality and of attractive artistic value.

Manufacture of furniture and objects made from palm branches:

Two craftsmen from the Wilayat have distinguished themselves for their mastery of this craft to produce furniture and materials made from palm branches with great aestheticism and creativity , used in the decoration of houses, cafes and shops.

Traditional weaving:

Its roots go back to history, because it is considered the oldest profession practiced by the local population because of its link with the availability of raw material (wool) because the area is agricultural and pastoral.

Changes and developments in forms and symbols have been brought to it in every epoch in the region, from the Ottoman presence to French colonization. It has spread throughout the wilaya, especially in rural areas, its shapes, colors, techniques and uses are varied: clothing (Al-Bernos, Al-Qashabiya), bedding and decoration (rugs, blankets like Al-Hayek, Al-Hanbal) A craft which is threatened with extinction and which needs to be revived..

Traditional jewelry:

a product represented in the manufacture of traditional silver jewelry that women adorn in their daily life and at festivals. He was known in the areas inhabited by Berber tribes, representing one of the tributaries of the authenticity and the historical Amazigh depth of the region. Its value is based on its precious metal and the connotations and symbols it carries in color, shape and inlays.

Pottery:

comes in the form of household tools and antiques of various shapes, sizes and decorations for decoration or daily life (Tadjines, pots, vases, bowls….)

Drawing on glass:

creative drawings on glass for decoration and everyday use.
